MOST WANTED ONE PIECE T-SHIRT.
One Piece is perhaps at the top of the hill of all mainstream anime. There's lot and lots of people who love it to bits, and the ones that don't, usually say it's because they don't like the art design, or because they don't like the dubbed versions. So let's talk about art first. The art is a bit more cartoonish at first glance, which make it seem like there wasn't enough effort put into it. But that's just until you get used to it. I mean most series need about 2 or 3 even 10 episodes to get hooked and this one is no different. But I think that after 2 or 3 episodes you won't even notice the cartoonish art anymore and you'll grow to love it.
About the dubbed versions... yes it's true, the 4 kids dub is kinda horrible. It's for kids as the name says. The newer dub is better ,but I'd still recommend watching it in the original Japanese. It's not dubbed down for a younger audience in that one.
Now the story itself is pretty simple at first. it's about a kid who wants to be the greatest pirate ever looking for One Piece, a treasure left behind by another great pirate. This is basically what drives him from one adventure to another. What makes One Piece a truly great anime are the characters. The start of the series take some time for you to get to know them, and after that you'll find that each and every character bring something new to the table and they're all there for a reason.

NARUTO

Every anime fan knows Naruto. It's actually a manga about a kid ninja, who wants to be the best of the best. A powerful fox called Nine Tails attacked the ninja village called Konoha. The leader of the village manages to trap the fox inside of his new born baby, but loses his own life while doing so.
The child, Naruto is isolated from the others, who see him as the personification of the fox. The attack itself later becomes a forbidden topic, so Naruto doesn't know about it until further on. By the time he finds out, he is a member of a ninja team, Team 7, with whom they are sent on missions. After many missions and many promotion, Naruto finally becomes the seventh Hokage, the highest rank in the village.

BLEACH

Bleach is another anime well deserving a closer look. It follows 15-year old Ichigo Kurosaki who was always able to see ghosts, but wasn't really that different until he got a special power from a death god who failed to do her job. He then becomes a Soul Reaper ( which is not unlike the grim reaper in the west). His job is to defend humans from evil spirts and to guide departed souls to after life.
His soul reaping power came from another Death God, called Kuchiki Rukia, who saves him and his family from a Hollow at the cost of injuring herself. During this encounter, with Rukia unable to defeat the hollow she transfers her Shinigami powers into Ichigo. Rukia later gets sentenced to death herself, for the offenses she did in the human world. So to help her out, Ichigo Kurosaki gets some help from some of his spiritually aware classmates, some of whom also have special powers to help his friend.
The anime is filled with epic moments, and some very awesome fights, as well as a very good soundtrack and very good English voice over actors. Fans of Naruto or One Piece might say it's not as good, but fans of Bleach will always say it's better. That's just part of being in the top three mainstream shonen animes.

TOKYO GHOUL
TOKYO GHOUL T-SHIRT.
Tokyo Ghoul is one of the more recent animes out there. First aired in 2014 it was very highly anticipated among the lover of genre. It is a scarier anime than most, and it does cover a dark theme, the story basically revolving around ghoul infested Tokyo, and one college student struggling to keep his life normal after he encounter one such ghoul.

What are ghouls, I hear you asking. Ghouls are creatures that need to devour human being in order to stay alive. The huge appeal of this series is that it is isn't really the good versus evil story. No it's actually pretty morally grey with the main character trying to stay human.
There is a thing that some people might not like about this anime and it's this. The story doesn't follow the original manga very well. It's probably because they wanted to pack as much as they could into 12 episodes, but the result is that some of the details get lost in
translation. But on the other hand the art is very decent, the voice casting is superb and it's all supported by a great soundtrack.
It might actually be a good anime for people just starting to enjoy the genre, since it stands very well on it's own, when you don't compare it to some of the other stuff, though the purist might not take to it that much. But as always there are a lot of fans out there
